Medina
County Art League was incorporated in 1973, at which
time our mission was; "To promote the Education,
exploration, awareness and development of the visual
arts; to promote community interest and appreciation
in the arts; and to sponsor and/or participate in are
shows, exhibit and community projects." This is
still our mission and we feel we have achieved our mission
in all areas and then some. We have established classes
in area retirement communities; Medina businesses have
given us space to display our artwork; we have a yearly
members' exhibition; we present two workshops a year;
and our annual art fair , Art in the Park, is renowned
for its excellence.
From
our beginning, awarding graduating senior scholarships
has been on way to give back to the community. Participating
artists in our art fair, Art in the park, donate a piece
of art for the scholarship raffle. Since 2002 the Art
League has added from our general fund to the raffle
monies received to bring the total scholarship awards
up to $3,500. The seniors are judged from their portfolios
containing at least five pieces of art showing a diversity
of their talent.
